This week, pupils tuned in to the 500 Word story writing live lesson. The collective story written in 40 minutes was brilliant and David Walliams was great at reading it - we didn't see the twist coming! We have some great ideas for our story entries and inspired writers! Don't forget to enter by 8th March at: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00rfvk1

Year 2 have been learning about stories by the same author and have been focussing on texts by Allan Ahlberg. They loved reading 'The Jolly Postman' story with letters to different characters from traditional tales and then retelling the story in their own words. More recently, they enjoyed stories from the 'Happy Families Collection' to draw comparisons between them and then write a biography on Allan Ahlberg and his books. The children noticed that he uses alliteration often and has worked with many different illustrators. "I liked the book 'Master Money the Millionaire' because there is a happy ending when the crooks got sent to prison and the boy went safely back to his family" (Patryk) "I enjoyed 'Mr Biff the Boxer' because the boxers became friends in the end" (Sullivan) "I liked Mr Creep the Crook' because the plans kept going wrong and it made me laugh" (Sofia)
