Over the last two weeks, Year 2 have been learning about instructional texts. They had the opportunity to follow a recipe and make their own choice of sandwich. Now the children are qualified chefs, they will go on to publish their own recipe using features such as time adverbials, imperative verbs, adverbs and conjunctions. Apparently, it was the best sandwich they had ever eaten!
In Year 1, we have been learning about materials and their properties as part of our Science lessons. We received an important letter from our friend Gingie and he needed our help. "I want to visit my friend but it's raining outside!" he stated. Joshua said that "He will get soggy and go soft". We thought about how to keep him dry and decided we needed to cover him up. We made predictions on what materials would be best and why. Lots of the children used the word waterproof to describe the material they chose. We are really looking forward to testing our materials soon and hopefully keeping our friend nice and dry!
Thought for the Week for Years 1 to 8...
As we are getting ready in Year 6 to study 'A Christmas Carol', what better way to introduce it than a Victorian morning. We learnt about shillings and farthings, learnt lots of things off by heart and even had a go at writing as children in a Victorian class would have had to do!
